3rd Annual Washers Tournament

We're excited to announce the details for our 3rd annual washer tournament in memory of Ryan Anderson. Ryan's family puts this tournament on to benefit Camp Rainbow. We're so thankful to them for doing this.The previous years have been a huge success, we're looking forward to this year!!

Second Session

Our second session of campers were just as wonderful as the first! We had quite a few new campers this year and we really enjoyed spending time and getting to know them!

 Our campers and counselors both loved the new paddle boats!

 The department of conservation came out and helped the campers fish. This was the first time we've had them and it was a huge hit. The campers actually caught lots of fish and really enjoyed learning what types of fish they caught and are in the lake.

 Friday morning we had a visit from the Grundy County Sheriff. He talked with the campers about his job and answered their questions. Then all the campers got a chance to check out his truck and even hear the sirens.

 The cabins participated in the annual Special Olympics. They had a great time competing in all the relays!

 Of course, the highlight of the week was the dance Friday night. The girls had their nails and make-up done and put on their best dresses. They danced late into the night and had lots of fun!

It's always sad to see the campers go home. But we had so much fun making new friends and seeing old ones as well. We had a wonderful, action-packed week. We're already looking forward and planning for next year!

Staff Break

After the first session of campers leave, we give the staff a little break. Our staff are all volunteers and they do an amazing job! After the campers leave the staff takes time to rest and relax for a little while. Then we're lucky enough to have the Trenton Pool allow us to come after hours to swim. It's wonderful to get away from camp and have a little fun! Then in the evening we gather around the fire circle for a hot dog roast and smores! 

 

We want to thank the Trenton Aquatic Center for allowing us to come after hours. We also want to thank  Murphy-Brown LLC for donating the hot dogs. Thanks to their generous donations, we're able to give our volunteer staff a fun, relaxing day!

First Session

We had another amazing year at Camp Rainbow!! This year brought many new campers and volunteers along with new activities we've never tried before. We couldn't be happier with how the week went! Here's some pictures from our first session of campers.

 The campers really enjoyed the puppet show! They couldn't help but get up and dance to the music along with the puppets.

 The National Guard was kind enough to bring out a couple trucks for the campers to look at. Everyone loved seeing the big trucks work and of course, getting their pictures taken with the soldiers!

 The camp dance was the highlight of the week, as usual!

It always seems the days go too fast! We hate to say good-bye but look forward to next year!

Craft Director Needed

We're so excited about Camp Rainbow 2013! We're eagerly getting things in order and ready! We have so many new and fun activities! However, we are in need of a Craft Director. This position would head up and organize crafts for all of camp. They would prepare a plan with crafts that go with the theme, and would have several helpers to assist them with campers and the running of the craft cabin. We're busy preparing for another wonderful year at Camp!! We wanted to let everyone know that the theme for this year is Pirates!! So get prepared to walk the plank this summer! We can't wait to see you all soon!

Even though it's chilly outside, we're already busy planning Camp Rainbow 2013! Mark your calendars for June 16-22! Make plans now to be a part of this amazing camp. You won't regret the experiences you have or the people you meet.
